Royal Jordanian and Air China Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Air Transport Cooperation

Royal Jordanian Airlines and Air China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Beijing, the Chinese capital, on the sidelines of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s visit to China. The MoU aims to strengthen the partnership between the two carriers, enhance air connectivity between Jordan and China, and expand areas of commercial and operational cooperation, thereby strengthening their competitiveness in global markets and paving the way for further future cooperation, including the launch of new routes.
Under the MoU, Royal Jordanian and Air China will explore codeshare opportunities on a number of key routes and leverage their hubs in Amman and Beijing to provide passengers with broader travel options and more efficient and seamless connections.
The two carriers will also cooperate across a number of commercial areas, including interline agreements, product and service training, and promotion of both brands, in addition to strengthening cooperation in operational support areas, including ground handling, air cargo and in-flight catering at their Amman and Beijing hubs, contributing to the provision of air services in line with the highest standards.
Vice Chairman / CEO of Royal Jordanian, Samer Majali, said that the signing of the MoU represents an important milestone in Royal Jordanian’s strategy to strengthen its presence in China and the Far East, emphasizing the importance of Air China as a strategic partner for Royal Jordanian.
Majali added: “Beijing represents a key gateway to China and the wider Asian markets, while Amman serves as a major hub for the Levant. By strengthening our commercial cooperation and exploring future codeshare opportunities, we aim to expand Royal Jordanian’s network reach, provide passengers with more seamless connections, and support the success of the planned direct service between the capitals of two countries.”
For his part, Qu Guangji, President of China National Aviation Holding Corporation and President of Air China, said that Royal Jordanian and Air China enjoy well-established cooperative relations and broad prospects for further developing their partnership, noting that the national carriers of Jordan and China are working to build a strong air link between the two countries.
He affirmed that Air China will provide its full support to Royal Jordanian in launching direct non-stop services between Amman and Beijing, expressing the company’s aspiration to further strengthen its partnership with Royal Jordanian in a way that contributes to promoting tourism, business and cultural exchange between Jordan and China and capitalizing on opportunities for shared development.
The signing of the MoU represents an important step in strengthening aviation cooperation between Jordan and China and provides new momentum for the development of the air transport market in both countries. Building on this step, Royal Jordanian and Air China will continue to expand areas of cooperation and further develop their partnership, contributing to building a more accessible and efficient “air bridge” that supports travel and connectivity between the peoples of both countries and strengthens economic and trade relations, as well as cultural and tourism exchange between Jordan and China.
