A meeting was held today on Thursday 15/10/2020 between the Board of Directors of the Jordan Hotel Association with His Excellency the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry and the Director General of Jordan Tourism Board.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Board welcomed the Minister, who started the conversation, and said that this meeting is part of a series of meetings with all tourism associations to further identify the challenges the sector is currently facing. The Chairman reviewed the main challenges facing the tourism sector in general and the hotel sector in particular due to the Corona pandemic, and in the interventions of the members of the Board of Directors, many of the problems facing the hotel sector in all its categories and in the various tourist sites of the Kingdom were explained, and they stressed the need to strengthen the partnership between The hotel sector, other tourism sectors, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and official authorities in light of these difficult circumstances, facilitate the procedures followed and review the important decisions that have been taken since the beginning of the crisis due to the peculiarity of the tourism sector. Among the many claims was facilitating loan procedures for the hotel sector, starting to implement creative marketing plans, deducting license fees and facilitating payment of financial dues on establishments without blocking services from them and pursuing establishments that operate without licenses, other than basic requirements to ensure the continuity of hotel establishments, many of which have been suspended.
